My summer Team in Training running log

« Back to blog

So I've been lacking in my updates....

But I haven't given up... and I still need your support!!!

If you haven't yet donated to the cause, the time is NOW, my fundraising deadline is October 1st!!!!  (even though my marathon is the 18th)

Some milestones since my birthday run...

NEW SHOES... Okay, so that's not a milestone, but I was having a LOT of pain, so the new shoes have put an extra boost in my step!

I've also cut back quite a bit on my cross training to keep from burning out, now is not the time to get more injured than I already am.

LONGEST RUN OF MY LIFE!!!!  Last Saturday, I ran 16 miles out at Coyote Creek which marks the longest run of my entire life... and from here on out, every long run will be setting a new record.   For the most part, I was able to run the whole thank (thanks to running buddies Sarah and Tracey) with just some ITB pain.   One thing I learned from running that long in the heat is that I need more than just energy drinks to replenish my electrolytes and spent the afternoon and part of the next day super sick :(

It's also amazing how as the season goes on and our distance increases, what once seemed impossible is now a reality.   I was thinking about this on my 8 mile run yesterday...where at the beginning of the season, 8 miles was our long run... and now it's our "short" run.    I had some pain on the run at ~6 miles in my knees and had to run/walk for the last 2 miles, hoping some ice and some biking this week will get me prepared for next weeks monumental 18 miler at Lake Merced.
